Worthing F C V Torquay United Sat 4th Jan 2025 3pm KO
United travel to the South Coast to take on Worthing in a 3rd Round FA Trophy Match which will be decided on Pens if a draw after 90 mins plus any added time.
Worthing are a good side and this will be a close game and could well be decided on Penalties.

Hate to be a killjoy but I will not be displeased if Worthing knock us out of this Cup. For me the sole focus should be on the league which is already shaping up to be a three horse race between us, Boreham and Maidstone with a few outside runners. I know it is a money earner for the club but it may be fools gold if this cup run disrupts the momentum in our quest for promotion.

Sadly, all that will fall upon deaf ears!
I would rather we just kept on winning…we have a squad and hopefully we will use it. We have players out on loan who can be recalled and we seem to be able to get loans in as the club is trusted to look after them. We have a young fit squad and keeping them sharp is vital. Also..if I was travelling 200 miles to see them play I would expect 100% from the team that we put out.

A cup comp allows for rotation and experimentation in competitive conditions. Would not want to drop out earlier than necessary unless the squad is truly down to bare bones.

We have to play to win simple as that.
Remember on Tuesday 11th February just over 5 weeks away we play Worthing away in the League. We do not want to give them the psychological boost of having beaten us today. Play to win as I am sure we will.COYY.

So you're under the impression that a game in the FA Trophy today, is going to affect a league game in over five weeks time are you?
Losing 3:0 after half an hour, so now promotion guaranteed.

ironically we had the best chance of the game at 0-0
Genuine question, obviously I don't follow your teams too closely, is this a full or near full strength team you've put out today?
We've been struggling to break through teams at home lately but this is like a hot knife through butter.

A back four including Craske and Carson - who's been off it recently - will concede goals

Well something for the Torquay fans to cheer - direct freekick from Young
Whilst the competition is pretty meaningless (to me) and I’d have taken 3 points a few days ago and next week over a result today, putting a team out with no striker and getting pumped isn’t what was required. Feel for those who travelled today. We don’t like cup ties and haven’t for years, we don’t really like playing on artificial despite training on it. The only good thing may be a kick up the backside like the FA Cup a few months ago gave us.

Had to switch the commentary off at halftime it was too close to our performance at bishops cleeve, It could end up as a cricket score if worthing do not take their foot of the gas, but as long as our players do not get injured or sent off then I do not care.
This was a strange starting eleven from the start,at the back craske, palmer and carson, all bench warmers when others are fit and no striking threat whats so ever.
I for one have been thinking we were due a drubbing or certainly a football lesson, too many games this season we have had a good 45 followed by a bad one, I can recall only one game when we have been in command for the majority of the match , far too many matches we have rode our luck and got away with it.
I imagine Wotton will be seething after this game and a few of todays starting eleven will have their futures explained to them in minute detail in the coming week..
