New songs?

Post by AustrianAndyGull »

I wasn't at Plainmoor on saturday so wouldn't know if any new songs were sung about our new players. Could someone let me know what they are (if any) so i can get in the groove for my next game away? Not Brizzle sadly but Daggers. Cheers. If there aren't any yet then maybe use this thread for members to post suggestions. I'll have a think later on and see if i can come up with anything half decent. :scarf:
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

A bit sad this, i'm replying to myself! Never mind - this is for the greater good. I've been banished to the depths as my other half is watching the bloody soaps. I've had a few cans and the creative juices are starting to flow like the orinoco. I've come up with a song for Taiwo Atieno which took some doing and it is to the tune of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. ( i KNOW BUT HEAR ME OUT!) IT GOES:

Atty atieno, atty atieno we love you
Every, every ground we're goin' to we'll always follow you in league 2
No team is ever gonna stop you not Barnet nor Southend
Bang bang Taiwo Atieno
He's scored for the gulls again!
Bang bang Taiwo Atieno
He's scored for us again!

What do you think? OK i'll get me coat. :red:

To the tune of yellow submarine.
The gulls are going up and the city's going down, the city's going down the city's going down X2
We're going up, they're going down, we're going up, they're going down, we're going up, they're going down, we're going up, they're going down
And repeat :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

I love it, we need more chants for the 'squad' players. Could really help to build their confidence if they know we're right behind them!!! :keepie:
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

We need more songs I think. Not just player songs, but generally.

We only ever seem to sing Yellow Army, or the Everywhere we go (which leads into yellow army).

Surely theres got to be a way we can get 'yellow submarine' (but with different words, obviously), being sung at games?

Agree Nick. The yellow army chant can get a bit monotonous at times and it would be great for us to impress other teams fans with a massive repertoire of songs.

How about the chorus of Aha's The Sun Always Shines on TV changed to The Sun Always Shines on Torquay?

Change the lyrics a bit. Would be different.

'Torquay, how can it be?
Believe me, the sun always shines on Torquay.
Torquay, close to my heart.
Torquay, wear the yellow and blue for me'

Right, well that's my creativity for the day. Maybe the more musically minded could make it work?

Up at the wimbledon game, there was a few of us singing the song 'falling in love with you'.

I can't remember the lyrics but it worked well when we got it going, Maybe alex can help me out with this?

Matt

Wise men say,
Only fools rush in,
But I can't help,
Falling in love with you.

Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin,
If I can't help,
Falling in love with you.

*Like a river flows,
Surely to the sea,
Darling so it goes,
Some things are meant to be.

Take my hand,
Take my whole life too,
For I can't help,
Falling in love with you.

* We didn't sing that verse.

I still feel we need some songs that characterize or identify the area of Torquay or Devon in general, something unique to the town or area that is well know and can be sung about. We need more songs that encompass our complete pride and identity in coming from Torquay, i say WE but i'm from Doncaster so just f*cking ignore me!

Teams have songs about the area they are from and that visiting fans can identify with. What about a song about Basil Fawlty? :slap:
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

We have a Hymn That identifies us with this area. Abide with me. Sung at every FA cup final. Many say its a bit of a dirge. It may be for some but just like our National anthem, it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. and it is from this area. and it is well known. and with 50 odd singing it it may well sound very good.
Besides. For all the talk of new songs, we can't even be bothered to remember the old ones. I also remember the Celtic lot taunting us about our lack of singing when we went up to the studios for that Football game show with Bob someone or other. They were right. I have seen us at home a few times up to the present and even this season the only song/chant is Yellow army. It's just boring. Let's get a life and sing a few others as well.
I know. I'll get me coat. :red:

Some for consideration

Que sera sera. what ever will be will be Etc. Yes I know it's generaly onl;y cup games but we don't even sing that.

When the red red robin comes bob bob bobbing along. (for Cheltenham) Shoot the B***

Only the lonely. Oh I suppose I will have to teach you that one.

You'll Never walk alone. (or it's alternative. You'll Never walk at all)

Most of the players have ditties sung about them when they are warming up but this could do for a quick Leadbitter chant.

Hi ho Dan Leadbitter
everywhere he goes the yellow army go

Hi ho.......and repeat

Plain but simple and i'm sure he'd appreciate it.
