I am looking at booking a holiday park in the UK so i can take my little one for her summer holiday. We have been to few before down in Devon and Cornwall but always really quiet ones with not much for kids. We've been to a place called Woodovis Park just outside Tavistock many times and it is one of the best i've ever been to but it is very low key. We'll still go back most years because it's such a fantastic place but for this one we need somewhere with lots to do for kids.
Would any of you guys have any suggestions of any places you have been that you were impressed with?
It's getting harder and harder to find a decent, busy and popular holiday park nowadays that isn't full of delinquent families, dirty caravans and rude park staff and so these are definate no no's. So if you can help then that would be great.
The park can be anywhere in the UK and not just Devon & Cornwall.
Also, if anyone has any amusing anecdotes about their holidays in holiday parks then it would be fun to read them.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
I've been to some in fact nearby to Torquay. I went to Finlake near Chudleigh a few years ago and stayed in one of their Scandinavian Lodge things. Very nice but quiet.
I've also stayed at Devon Valley Holiday Village in Shaldon about 10 years back and that was ok, has got some terrible revies on tripadvisor though.

Have been to a few, Andy, but none too near Torquay - best one was the one at Woolacombe Bay (Golden Sands I think?). Went to watch the PDA Darts in December - wil never, ever go to Butlins again...although it is on again this year, what to do?!!! In all honesty, would be tempted to find a b&b, and then wear out the lil 'un during the day so you don't have to worry about entertaining her in the evening. Holiday parks cost an absolute fortune for what you get. Mind you, I'm restricted to term time, you might get a good deal out of season. Or - try Parkdean at West Bay, then we can share travel costs going to a game
Haha, thanks WBG! I know what you mean about Butlins though, i went to the Skegness one years ago and it cost about 400 grand and it was such a dump!

I'd never been to a Butlins before, lots of mates have been on boozy weekends. The room was small and manky, the drinks were incredibly expensive and the food was crap and expensive. Oh, and it was freezing. Not a bit like the adverts . When I'm prime ministeress, I shall make it a rule that adverts have to tell you the truth.
Have been to quite a few in my time. One or two in or near torquay as well as around the UK.
One or two I would recommend you avoid like the plague.
Ladies Mile in Dawlish. A place for the chavs. ner do wells and anyone who is on benefit. Oh and they manage to con a few well meaning decent holiday makers who don't know about the place. It is a pit. If it rains hard the place is a boggy mess and if they run out of space they make do with whatever they can drun up in some Godforsaken corner whether it is suitable or not. Young kids drinking alchohol out of bottles and getting drunk and abusing the other campers. etc etc. The police are regular visitors to this place. I put in a complaint at the Dawlish Police station and was told of all the times they have to go there. Cofton Park a little further out from DAwlish is so much better.
Peppermint park is also a cramped, and when we went there, a dirty site in Dawlish Warren.
Up Norf. There was one just outside Scarborough. Just at the edge of a bay. The main road was all the seperates the site from the cliff edge. In the morning you may have the alarm clock of all alarm clocks. )7:50. woken by a very loud fast Jet of Her Majesties Air Force as it streaked in from the sea and directly over the road and site at nil feet. or so it seemed.

It seems that over the years, Many sites have changed as the benefits of camping have become aparent and the prices have shot up through the roof.
Join the Jeremy Clarkson apreciation society and get a caravan. and get the biggest and heaviest you can find to tow behind a Robin Reliant 3 wheeler, drive very very slowly down a winding one way narrow country lane. Hoping he and his cronies are stuck behind you.
In all seriousness I am a confirmed happy camper who used either my Jag or our 2.5ltr diesel van to tow and normal speeds not holding anyone up, in fact many of you motorists held me up. you road hogs you. why can you not drive at normal speeds. lol.
Now i can recommend loads of tourist sites. and some to avoid
