Wow, what an interesting and original thought. The rest of us were definitely hoping he'd sign a load of old shit and get us relegated. =D

Come on lads, where's your sympathy. He's a newbie and we all had to start somewhere. Ok it's not the best thread but you should see some of my efforts in the past! :clown:
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Indeed, encourage new members to post, not scare them off, when I first joined took me a week to work out what a PM was...

As for getting busy in the transfer market, I would rather Alan Knill spend 2 months getting the right players in, than sign 6 players next week who well you know, family site and all.

We will get busy, we just need to wait for the right time to bring the right players in.

Indeed Chris, however it can take time for new posters to learn the ways of the forum, and thats where those of us who are part of the furniture can help and advise, aslong as no one asks me for help on how to avoid the spelling and grammar police, don't why they seem to have given up on me... :)

That's a remarkable amount of 'wrong' in nine words, even by your standards.

Ah here we go again. God almighty himself throwing his bully boy weight around making fun of new posters who clearly don't have his intellectual capacity! Shame on you ! This was a quite reasonable statement that didn't need such a put down just to make you feel more important! :@

Welcome Billybobgull from a new-ish poster. I suspect what you're thinking is that other clubs are making signings but nothing appears to be happening at Plainmoor. Don't worry - this happens every season. There will be a flurry of activity - players out, players in - at the end of June/beginning of July. We just have to be patient and r e l a x !!! I am confident that Alan Knill and, hopefully, Chris Brass will 'do the business'.

There are some of us that know what a pre season without 'modern technology' was all about. Perhaps it's just a sign of the times that we want to read that something has happened on a daily basis and crave some kind of gratification every day. Those summers back then were long (and enjoyable for other, non footballing reasons). I remember how I'd scan the Western Morning News for any titbits of news (although sadly it was mainly about the GAWS).

Just because there was no news or need for the club to make any noise, didn't mean that nothing was happening. But just like now players would finish a season and go off for their holidays or just spend time back 'home' (wherever that was). That didn't mean the club hadn't made enquiries and was actively seeking a fresh squad.

Sometimes it seems as if we're all hanging on every members postings or that we need to be the first to break any sensational news or coup. Perhaps we just need to focus on something else for the next four weeks, enjoy the summer and different activities? But of course I might suggest it, I will be looking in every day for that morsel of information. It could be a long summer... we don't even have any Royal or sporting occasion to distract us from our drug that is this club.

I prefer the access we are now all blessed with, but it does make us a little less patient when it appears that nothing is happening.
