"Raynor is a cheat" banner ??!!!

Post by Seasider9601 »

Hi folks, Morecambe fan in peace here.

Impressive away support you brought up to The Globe on Saturday. Hope you all had a good time in our company (barring the result of course). Just wanted to wish you all the very best in your cup tie against Crawley - hope you do one over on Evans.

Anyway, my subject title. I see Paul Raynor is Evans' assistant still at Crawley. I can well remember going to Deepdale, Preston North End in, I think it was, the 1994/95 season for a match they played against your goodselves and your fans had a massive banner emblazoned with "Raynor is a cheat". I've never forgotten that and the abuse Raynor got all afternoon ! I presume that had all stemmed from that previous seasons Play Off match? Am guessing you guys are still not forgiving of Mr Raynor and will be reminding him of the fact in the Cup Match ?! This has probably been posted elsewhere, and if so, apologies.

Anyway, good luck each and all !!

Thanks for the good luck message seasider we're going to need it, as its going to be a hard game. Yes I've been told that Raynor is disliked for what he did in the play-offs and has never been forgiven, I think he got a one of our players sent off that cost us the game. Am not sure about the banner, on the off chance has anyone still got it?

Yes. He got Darren Moore sent off. He played for Swansea prior to that and was in their side that beat us in play-offs. He was a sub for Orient when we needed 1 point to go up automatically a couple of seasons later. We lost and lost in play-offs. He flicked us V's from touchline that day. He is not liked. I would go as far as to say he is probably the most disliked opponent we have ever had. And obviously Evans is a tool as well.

So, any side he's involved in we generally come off second best. Oh dear.

Perhaps we should use reverse psychology and applaud him on to the pitch?

Whatever happens - I hope the club keep the moral high ground and not resort to sprinkler flooding type behaviour again!

As for the fans - I hope we give the pair of goons stacks!

The energy/chanting/singing/encouragement should be directed towards our team and our team only. This will be our best chance of beating Crawley AND silencing the fat man and his tool sidekick.
