Merry Christmas to my fellow posters and Fans of Torquay United.

I find it strange that anybody could think they could make money out of owning Torquay United.
But maybe some have....

I am interested in Mrs Roberts' post and would like to welcome her to the forum.

I will tomorrow do some research into the financial situation of the club and report back.

The situation isn't funny anymore.

Bobbytanz wrote:I have read this topic with interest and thought I'd put my three penny worth in ! I as a long term season ticket holder sent our Mr Breed an email expressing my worries and concern for TUFC and offering my help if required as an experienced recovery and restructuring professional

BUT I haven't even had the courtesy of a response whether it be a yes please or no thank you so my love for the club is now waivering big style and after following the Gulls since 1971 I now am considering severing my ties ...... And not making the 160 mile round trip to home games ............ A sad sad day
This is the sort of thing that I find frustrating and quite upsetting, at the beginning of the season we were given a rallying cry and fans were asked to help where they could, there were also promises of transparency and communication, now they dont seem to want to know us or want us to know anything. Aside from the bollocks Herald Express Colin Lee story I have read and heard stories such as the quote above on quite a few occasions over the past few years, particularly involving a few of those from the last regime who were obviously too wrapped up in their self importance to feel they need help or somebody else could do a job. Some of those situations have indeed been reported on this very forum. I truly dont feel and really do hope the current board etc are not really like this.

However, Steve can easily be forgiven for overlooking an email or 2, IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE, and he is flat out busy I am sure, in fact I know he is , dont forget he has a family and his own business to take care of, TUFC seems to be a massive job at the moment with just a brave few trying to do everything. Try and give the club a call and speak to someone who may be able to put you in the right direction, even try and get Steve himself, I am sure they wouldnt turn any help down if it is for the greater good of TUFC.
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

As suggested, I have checked out the listings at Companies House. For those that are unfamiliar with this, this is where limited companies are registered and records held, not only of the company but also its directors. Certainly, Peter Robert Masters history makes worrying reading. His history resembles something you would expect on a Watchdog television programme. He has been a director of 35 companies, 26 of these have become dissolved and one liquidated! Nine companies remain active. Many of the companies he has been involved with have changed their trading name more than once. I will let you draw your own conclusions!

I could never have imagined when I initiated this thread less than 24 hours ago that it would produce over 4,000 viewings and 80 replies.

I fully understand that it would not have happened but for the post by Bleeper about Torquay United Fans Ltd.

The last 24 hours have revealed a staggering number of time bombs not least being the above post by Gloucester Gull.

There are so many major issues now in the public domain that my view is that by mid January the Board must hold a Meeting at a suitable venue to inform fans what is really going on at Plainmoor. If we are to continue giving our support to the Club this seems a reasonable suggestion.

Whilst I am as angry, gutted and sad at the situation we are in as anyone, we need to remember these guys saved our football club!!!

Yes, there are issues that still need to be answered, yes, there are issues on the field, yes, we have no money, yes, we are currently in the relegation zone but they only took over the club 5 months ago else there definitely would have been chains on the door. They always said it would take a while to get the club back to its former self whatever division that may be in.

This week has seen the club get a new training facility and now have a team bus.

I appreciate that communication is not at its best at the moment but we need to back these guys who are running our football club. They put themselves forward to save the club, NOW WE NEED TO SHOW OUR THANKS, KEEP FAITH IN THEM TO SUPPORT THEM TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS!!

Leaving Seale Hayne is the answer if it's going to save us money. Ok, we might be paying Torquay Academy but I bet it's not as much as what Seale Hayne was. Or we might not be paying them at all and they might get free tickets for home games. A local training facility can only be a positive thing.

Agreed, SDL players aren't the answer.

Well said Ian. I think the Board have made bad decisions but we are all capable of those. Wanting everything and everyone changed is an understandable reaction but will produce only total bedlam.

I fully agree that things need to change but let's back them. They are still on a learning curve as well remember.

There was a second posting from Torquay Fans Ltd yesterday which I haven't seen reproduced over here yet. So for the benefit of those posters who don't visit the TFF:

WITHOUT PREJUDICE

Good evening to you all,

I feel that I have to respond to the posts, especially the post by Gullpower.

1. Torquay United Fans Ltd was set up purely to move the club onwards and upwards along with the fans. That is our only agenda.

2. As a director of Torquay United Fans Ltd, I will be one of the first people to admit that the directors of Plainmoor and Torquay United have put money into the club but it was in less than ideal circumstances.

3. Steve Breed has not dug deep into his pockets and invested money into the club. This was confirmed at a board meeting by Steve Breed himself when he was asked if he had put money into the club.

4. The ground is leased by Plainmoor Ltd from the council and is a separate company from Torquay United Association Football Club. Why are Plainmoor Ltd accounts are up to date while Torquay United Football Association Football Club currently has the company status "Active - Proposal to strike off" and yet the directors are the same for both companies? Furthermore, why has Plainmoor Ltd sold 20% of its shareholding to Jason Masters who is linked to Truro Football club through his father, Peter Masters?

5. We feel that the board should sell their shares for £1 regardless of any investment they have made, in the same way that they bought the shares from Mrs Bristow for £1 after the Bristow family invested more than any other owner in the history of the club. If they had the clubs best interests at heart, they would not be trying to make a profit.

6. Torquay United Fans Ltd is here for the fans and the club only, not for personal gain or to sell the club for profit. You have talked about us putting money into the players fund but the club needs substantial backing due to aspects such as drainage of the pitch and repairing the stands as well as the day to day running costs and the players fund would not cover this because it is to buy players hence the name of the fund.

7. We have spoken with members of the TUST and I believe we are building a good relationship with them for the future.

We feel sure that all fans would agree that we all want the best for the club long term, not just quick fixes, by working together, we can achieve anything. By being positive, we the fans can achieve anything.

On a final note, all that I have stated this evening can be clarified by the board being transparent and open. They can show you what has been invested and by whom, This information should be available on company record at companies house.

In the New Year we will post our full plans because we wish to be transparent and open with the Torquay fans, we believe that the fans should know exactly what is going on with the club.

Once again, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and happiness for all time.
Yours sincerely

Not according to Peter Masters, Chairman of Truro City FC he hasn't!!!!

This, from the OFFICIAL Truro City website .....

Subsequent to yesterday’s meeting, speculation has emerged about an investment into Torquay United by Jason Masters. For the purposes of clarification, Peter Masters said today:

“The arrangement with Torquay United relates solely to the ground share. Jason Masters has not purchased shares in Torquay United, nor has he been made a director of the club.”

Now, as far as I am aware Peter Masters has NEVER admitted to being the preferred bidder that very nearly bought the club when Kelvin Thomas was here .... and yet, even the normally cautious and conservative David Thomas said (in his most recent podcast) that he was 99.9% certain that Masters was indeed the preferred bidder - so whether his word can be taken as gospel is perhaps open to debate!
