Re: Ling Sacked

Ling would never have seen us fall into a relegation fight. I hope the board make the right call on the next manager. People have short memories... Knill has hardly been inspirational.[/quote
Well, we're all entitled to our opinions, but I do believe that Knill DID inspire a failing team to come back from the brink. They had help from Labadie ( ) & Chappell for a bit, but even when they were recalled, the training regime & leadership that Knill gave them saw us through. Even the games that we lost were being battled for; previously, as soon as a goal went in from the opposition,United were anything but! I wanted to support the team that I saw post-Knill, but was very concerned for the lads with no confidence before that.

Re: Capacity?

http://www.footballgroundguide.com gives it as 6,500. Out-of -date then!
Maybe the Popside capacity was reduced to allow room for all the police to get in to form a segregation wall?

Re: POLL - Views on Martin Ling returning

It's a tricky one to answer. Reduced pricing for renewal ends on Tuesday. A lot of people will have to take a chance on the managerial outcome being the one that they would favour.I'm not a season ticket holder, but I may not attend so many games if the football is boring...is that called 'sitting on the fence' ?

Re: Joke police

just taken this from the Bristol Fans' Forum...'I noticed that too. A real hard one for the TUFC and the police, but I think they got away with it,

But imagine if the same situation with a large number of Torquay fans in the Blackthorn and we were the ones biting our finger nails needing a result to stay up! It would have been potential Armageddon! We would have felt invaded at our most vulnerable moment.

So fair play to those Torquay fans, some who must have been really irritated with the visiting presence in the home end, but still managed to keep a lid on their feelings enough to avoid a real incident. They should know that most Rovers fans wanted them to stay up.'

Re: Joke police

Agreed on more away seating. If games are all-ticket, can we still reserve our tickets by phone & collect them on the day? If so, not such a problem for exiled supporters, or even local supporters who work away. With regard to the Bench, Mav..some of what you call 'elderly' supporters may well be 'retired' Popsiders, Ministanders & others who have already been there, done it , sung it, battled it & indeed bottled it on occasions; and now, quite frankly don't WANT it thanks.. the aggression, the jeering etc that we had to put up with yesterday by less good-natured BR fans than it seems got into the Family Stand. Personally, I wouldn't have minded those. Incidentally, in calling for the invaders to be removed, the people around me certainly did not stop their support for the Gulls...we admirably managed both vociferously! Delighted with the outcome however; would have been better to have not conceded the late equaliser, but we're still in the League so never mind! I'm still exhausted, but I've got my voice back...

Re: Joke police

I bought my ticket for the Bench today about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Rovers fans were already posting on their forum that they were after seats in the Home Sections. When I bought my ticket I mentioned this situation; the ticket office girls told me that they were aware of this; any Rovers fans wearing colours or singing would be ejected. JOKE. The Rovers fans on the Bench were aggressive & the stewards talked a lot on their radios about the situation & did absolutely nothing. Very disappointing, & spoilt the atmosphere.

Re: Next Weekend

Don't you lot dare turn this forum into the Argyle one! If you read that, you'll scarcely find one optimistic post; doom & gloom extraordinaire!I've been saying since January that Torquay will NOT be relegated. Yes, it's gone to the wire, & whoever thought that it wouldn't? Really looking forward to the Rovers match. Of course we've got to fight, but what makes you think that Alan Knill, Chris Brass, Manse & all the others don't know that? They've been fighting for most of their recent games, & it took me a couple of days to recover after the Barnet match because they battled very well! I was hoarse! (Not horse, in case some of you can't read!) Same again on Saturday please! COYYs ! :scarf:
