Update for the fans on TUFC site
Taken the blame for what? I cannot see any comment that says "it was my fault" - not that it was his fault entirely.
That was not an excuse that was a thinly disguised attempt to "connect" with the fans who were equally furious about the decision.

Update for the fans on TUFC site
I have just read the comments on the OS.
What a smokescreen!!!! Are we really supposed to believe that CH was still SO furious after 135 minutes , that is 2 hours and 15 minutes later, that he did not feel he had sufficient self control to speak to the media, despite the training he must have had previously as a pundit, for 5 minutes maximum???? Of that 5 minute interview I would be disappointed if he could not control himself for ..what 1 minute.. surely that is as much time as would have been taken up discussing the tackle on Coulthirst by Saah after 4 MINUTES of the game.
Do we think that a man with so little ability to control his emotions is the right person to steady the ship?
Reeks of an inexperienced man trying to cover up his own shortcomings by hiding behind a poor excuse.

Or do you mean the fans on Saturday ........it was pretty quiet at the end of the match !!

Could you please tell me what attributes you have identified in CH, since his appointment, that has led you to that conclusion?Scott Brehaut wrote: Not really - you said he was lucky to still be in a job next season and I simply stated that David Moyes was equally lucky too.
You said there was no comparison between the two - granted the jobs are poles apart, but both have not matched the expectations.
Still, United could have sacked Fergie after his first season in charge given the shocker that he had - bet they are rather glad they didn't.
Not saying that Hargreaves is going to suddenly become amazing overnight, but I think he will shut a few people up in the conference next season (if that's where we end up - it is, of course, still mathematically possible for us to stay up....)
I am genuinely interested as I must be missing something really obvious.

Point made - but, if we as fans are finding it difficult to find any shred of hope to latch on to that next season will be better/different with CH to lead us, there will be even LESS f**king MONEY because the numbers coming through the turnstiles will plummet.Scott Brehaut wrote:There is nobody out there that has any money that wants to invest in Torquay.
We have no money
We have no money
WE HAVE NO MONEY!!!!
That's why drastic managerial changes won't happen now, or anytime soon. That's why we WILL get our wish and a load of players will move on at the end of the season.
That's why we will see a team full of free transfers, loanees and youngsters that are playing for f*** all next season.
WE HAVE NO MONEY - anybody who thinks Chris is going to get the push is totally and utterly deluded.
Once more - WE HAVE NO f**king MONEY.
I think we are all aware that Thea cannot continue to suffer "open cheque book" surgery, and I cannot recall having seen any calls for her to put in more money.
What I/we are looking for is an acknowledgement that this season has not been all we hoped for, but that there is some plan to instigate improvements next season. ST holders, new and existing, will be reluctant to flush their money down the toilet unless they are given something to believe in.
I do not believe anyone is expecting cash to be splashed wantonly ...but just saying we have no F**KING money is presenting the problem without offering a solution....... "OK, so tell me why I should invest mine for next year - what are you going to do differently that will make me want to spend my money on your product?" Because without some reassurance we will NEVER HAVE ANY f**king MONEY!

Give Hargreaves A Chance
It is the true fans who are hurting. If we were ambivalent about the team and our problems we would not be making any comment at all ....because it wouldn't matter.nickbrod wrote:I can't believe that people on here tonight are true Torquay fans. Yes I am as disappointed as everyone else to lose at home yet again especially as I was on the road for over 9 hours there and back. However let's look at the facts, we had majority possession. More shots, corners and less fouls. Frankly Dagenham were lucky to have 11 on the pitch by half-time.
We played plenty of attacking football but we can't score at home. The current situation goes back way before Hargreaves joined but why he didn't have a press conference after the game we will no doubt find out.
Why are so many on here such football 'experts' - give the guy a chance. He's hurting just as much as we are.
Sorry Mr Hargreaves, didn't realise you were that bothered about the situation as you do not seem to be trying to change things for the better and make the bloody pain STOP !!!

Give Hargreaves A Chance
Does Hargreaves believe he should include himself and Hodges on that retained list ?
For me the performance level is not what is required/expected of someone "playing for the club".
There have been some interesting comments from him recently :
"My job is to bring through young players" .....BBC Spotlight 17/04/2014 - Then go back to coaching the youth team if that is what you see as your management target.
"I don't look at the league table" ......Radio Devon pre match interview (because of course there was no post match!) 18/04/2014 - perhaps if you had looked at the BLOODY table you would have realised we were in the sh1t much earlier!!!
Not the man for me - wrong choice at the start and remains wrong choice.
I have not seen any evidence that, even with a "promotion budget" this clown has.... a) the ability, b) the insight c) the motivational skills, d) eye for a player, e) an idea of how to set up a team, f) how to use substitutions to change a game to our benefit.... that will be desperately needed to give us any hope in the Conference.
Just using todays debacle as an example of b)/d)/e)/f) - I need convincing that Stevens is a better player than Chappell or even Thompson.

Disgraceful
Not just the game today but also the fact the Hargreaves does not have the courage to explain the mess he oversaw today.
I have lost the remaining goodwill I had for the man.
Cannot believe that the club "refused" to allow anyone to speak - does Hargreaves not have ANY authority in the club or personal spine to show some respect to the fan base.
I mirror the contempt shown by the management team back at the management team

AustrianAntheaGull wrote: Nobody is proclaiming to be an 'expert' Nick. Simply by being thrust into the most desperate of desperate situations and then deciding to continue with the same old stuff that has been proven not to work is suicide. Most were suggesting a change to a less risk averse and more 'gung ho' line up which may help us score more than a couple of goals a month. You don't have to be an expert to see that something isn't working and then try to change it. Once those changes have been implemented and we STILL haven't done any better then everyone can hold their hands up and accept the situation. Chris appeared to accept the situation a while back whilst we still had more than enough time to get out of it.
I'm glad to see we did ok at Rovers and that Chris actually decided to start with Shaq and a more attacking mindset. Whether this was the deciding factor in us winning the game I don't know as I wasn't there but we scored twice and put in a better performance so I'd assume it helped. It's far too late though and that's the tragedy.

Well said Anthea - CH has hardly become a master tactician just because he "managed" to win a game that could have secured our relegation.
As I have said on a previous thread "One swallow does not a summer make"

If we are undefeated after the Exeter game it will be time for the Great Escape chants.

Let's not get carried away - it is one small floatation device in significant whirlpool !nickbrod wrote:Hargreaves got the tactics just right today at Bristol Rovers with the players who were prepared to play for him. On this display no matter how the season ends CH knows what it needs to make us successful once again.
We played with attacking intent and our shape showed that with confidence the future's bright.

I am disappointed I did not make the journey, but given the previous performances I thought this would be the final coffin nail.
