Re: Craig Stanley

Mr Pougher, It does seem very much so that you are obsessed with us. Instead of writing utter durge about Bristol Rovers, Why dont you concentrate on your own team.

Mustapha Carayol is a very skillful player and is great going forward but he is utter dross defensively, and when he is ahead of our young full back Smith who is also very attack minded, It is criminal to play them both if the opposition have a tricky customer on their left, hence why he is sub/subbed quite a lot, But no falling out between him and Buckle at all.

Joker4 has not been alenated by Buckle, he alienated himself by refusing to play, Paul Buckle has done the right thing.

Craig Stanley has been sh*t quite frankly and him and Matt Gill in the middle are slowing things down, they are both pretty similar and Craig Stanley by the looks of things only knows how to pass sideways or backwards. We have Wayne Brown who is far, far better than Craig Stanley and should be ahead of him every day of the week.

Dave(Southampton Gull), Craig Stanley may have been part of your side that got to the play off final in this division, but so was Chris Zebroski and it doesn't stop him from being worse than useless. Craig Stanley is an average League 2 footballer, I got hooked into thinking he would be a good signing by the reviews Gulls fans had given him, but so far he has looked abysmal along with Zebroski. Hopefully they will both improve, as like with the whole team they just might be taking a while to settle in.

But up to now, You are welcome to take them both back :~D

Just teasing :)

On a serious note, what some of your fellow fans are saying regarding Buckle is exactly what most of us Gulls have been saying for the last 4 seasons. None of that now, Martin Ling might not be a candidate for England manager but he has an air of honesty, when we play crap he says we've played crap, I like that, so refreshing after endless drivel from Mr Buckle.
That is fair enough, I agree with that.

But to be fair to Buckle, apart from the Crawley game I wouldn't say we have played crap, Maybe against you we were not at the races but that is the only other game where you could say that. The football may not always be as pretty as we would of liked but apart from the 2 games we have lost in the league, we have been the better side in the majority of games.

After the Crawly game he did come out and say that we literally were a complete shambles.

The Jury is still very much out on Buckle but like I have said it is early doors and there is still plenty of time left to go. If we go on a run of winning games then I dont really care what he has to say, If on the other hand we continue to not win enough games then I am sure our fans will have reason to be concerned.

Again I didn't say we outplayed the opposition in 8 games :)

I mentioned 2, Leyton Orient in the cup, and Hereford. The Wycombe game was equal in terms of chances created but they finished theirs off and we wasted ours, that is what I meant by equal.

Granted the scoreline suggested they dicked us :~D

Southampton Gull wrote:I'd have thought he would be scoring more though, what with you totally outplaying everyone :)
Well you cant blame Matt Harrold, his goal tally so far for the Gas is better than a goal every 2 games which is what all good goalscorers should do, He is doing his job, and with all due respects IMO is a very good player for this level.

If it wasn't for the fact that Chris Zebroski has about as much guile as a moldy piece of dogsh*t, the first touch of an armless rapist, and a guy who probably has as much trouble finishing his **** dinner than f*cking scoring, we may well have scored a lot more.

Thats what is amusing, your views on Harrold saying he is absolute litter, but on the other hand saying Chris Zebroski is worth over 100k :~D

But that is the glory of opinions I suppose.

Harrold is proving everybody wrong Dave, He has 5 goals to his name and is the only one pulling his weight and putting the ball in the net, he has already halved his goal tally of last year in about 8 games.

Zebroski on the other hand :B

tufcbrett wrote:Im sorry but you cant go around saying we were unlucky for the reason for losing football matches. I bet the teams playing you are unlucky not to score more.
If we were lucky we would be top of the league so would every other side in the world.

If your strikers cant finish their dinner, then you send them out for extra training at what there doing wrong, not stand there and say well maybe next week we may get lucky and one will take 15 deflections and go in.

I agree you have loads of new players and will take time, but how much time do you want exactly? Everyone has had 6 league games and you had 3 cup games. These guys live and train with each other every day for the last 2 months. They will know each other well enough to play football, there all pros. Ive i started a sunday team, id expect everyone to know everyone and be settled after 2 months. Just to add we got quite a few new players and we seem to have settled all right.

Talking to a few rovers fans they are suprised how many good sides there are in the league as they all thought they would walk the league with 100+ points.
I kind of agree that you make your own luck, but we totally outplayed Orient and lost, totally outplayed Hereford and only drew, and against Wycombe we made more chances but failed to put the ball in the net, they had 4 shots at goal and scored 3 goals, you can call it luck if you want but ultimaly it was down to poor finishing, So yes we are the architects of our own downfall but the signs are there that we are getting closer to how we want to play and apart from the Crawley disgrace where we were absolute garbage, the other games have been a fine line. Buckle has called the players in for extra training, especially after the Crawley defeat.

We need at least 10-15 games, we are still only in September, for me the league table doesn't really take shape until Nov-Dec time, that is when we should look at ourselves to see how we are playing and what the results are.

2 years ago in League one Norwich lost the opening game 7-1 at home to Colchester and they were struggling in mid table until October, in October that season we had won something like 12 of our first 14 games and were sat at the top of the table after just beating Southampton at St Mary's, we then play Norwich at Carrow Rd, they spank us 5-1 and then they went on an unbelievable run and romped the league, while we on the other hand went the other way and crumbled after that defeat and finished about 10th. I dont mind doing something like Norwich did, as long as it gets us to where we want to be.

The season is a marathon not a sprint, I dont think many Gasheads were surprised at the actual quality in this division as we had witnessed it last time we were here, and it took us 5 years to get back out. This time though our squad on paper looked a lot better than it did last time, and I think a few Gasheads got carried away with our prospects, but it is still early day's and I fully expect us to be challenging come the end.

Re: deja vu

In all fairness, he is right.

The Crawley game aside in which we were absolutely abysmal, the other games we were unlucky, It is nothing to do with his system, but the players inability to put the ball in the net after creating good opportunities, You cant blame Buckle for that.

We are missing some key crucial players notably Joe Anyinsah and Gary Sawyer, and Jo Kuffour who wants to f*ck off back to London, and also young Cian Bolger who is our best centre back despite being only 18.

The football on offer has been pretty dire of late but it can only improve.

We are a team in progress, and as I have said previously, with so many new players and a brand new team we are going to be inconsistent but we still have the required quality to be where we want to be in May, It is still only September and it is silly season, I still feel we will take some stopping when everybody is fit and we start to gel.

The result last night doesn't bother us Gasheads, yes it would of been nice to win I suppose to gain some momentum, but the early rounds of the paint pot are pretty sh*t there was only 700 there last night and that was with about 300 Gasheads, people only tend to take an interest in the latter rounds. The league is far mire important to us.

We beat Wycombe 6-2 at Adams Park in the paintpot quarter finals last year, but we lost to Exeter in the semis and then got relegated in May.

The league is what we need to concentrate on. Lets hope Bradford feel the wrath on Saturday :~D

Although I am confident he will come forth in respect of the game at the Mem I am more concerned about his bet that Rovers will be Premiership in 5 years. My ass! I've been following football for bloody years and remember the Rovers team featuring legends like Jarman and Biggs, but they were never near the top division and never will be.

Bristol City of course have been in the top division and of course if anybody is going to do it from that city with the wierd accents, then it will be Brizzle Citee! ;-)
Stef

It wasn't disingenous, I praised you on your win, although I felt the Gas deserved more from the game.

I didn't bet that Rovers would be in The Premiership at all, I dont know why you decided to make that up???....What I did say was that Rovers would be in The Championship and I bet that we would be 2 divisions above Torquay in that time.

As for Bristol C*ty, yes you are correct they were in the top flight, but they did it with money they did not have and lasted 2 years, and within 5 years they were bankrupt and languising rock bottom of the whole football league. Just like they are doing now, splashing money they dont have, and they are one of the worst run, most in debt clubs in the entire country, Dont be surprised if they go the same way as Argyle in the near future.

As for us, once the new UWE Stadium is built, we will have a chance of progressing to where we want to be, obviously our current home stops us from doing that, but if the likes of Reading, Hull, Swansea et al can do it then Bristol Rovers certainly can.

Onwards and Upwards :~D

He is a F***ing useless ****.

Good riddance as far as I am concerned.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt before because I actually thought he would be a great asset in League 2, but he has been the big baby and threw his toys out of the pram, and he refused to play against Orient, stating that his head wasn't right to play. So he can f*ck right off.

He showed glimpses of what a good player he can be, when we had Lambert, and then Heffernan, and now Harrold, he looks good playing uptop with a guy who can actually hold the ball up, but he is so inconsistent and has no football brain whatsoever and does tricks when he doesn't need to, but when he does need to does f*ck all.

He is very well paid aswell for a 4th division footballer, so his wages saved would be a bonus.

Hopefully him going can now give Mgleish the chance to play upfront and score the goals that Jo uffour could only dream of despite being nearly 10 years older.

This is my reasoning as well. Can we get him on a longer contract with a clause in it not to stand in his way of a move if a Championship/Premier League club comes in with a reasonable offer ?

Expect "BIG TIME" Bristol Rovers to come sniffing in January with an offer of £45,000. 8/
I dont think anybody in League 2 should ever cost more than £300k IMO.

He does look like a good player judging by what I saw at The Mem last Saturday, We have a bit of cash in the kitty and we also recieved a decent amount from Wednesday for Chris Lines, so maybe we could make a move for him, but I very much doubt it. A few clubs better placed than us will be looking at him I am sure, Maybe Crawley will be sniffing after him :red:

How old is O,Kane by the way? I think the Premier League is way to far a step up for him, judging by what I have seen, Even Chris Lines has only joined a League One side, and I am not saying he is a better player than O,Kane for one second, but Lines did cut it at League one level scoring 15 goals in a season 2 years ago, Whereas O,Kane is unproven at a higher level.

It was 2 clear goals dave :)

Maybe I was a bit naive in thinking that we would gel quickly, So fair play on the win.

But I am still very confident that once this team is functioning and firing on all cylinders we will give a few teams a right good old thumping.

I will be happy to put another bet on for the fixture down at Plainmoor too, I think we will be better suited to playing away from home, on the counter attack with the pace we have in the side, So I will be more than happy to put the same bet on for that match :~D

Re: Northampton fan's express there opinion on

Northampton fans are not the brightest are they.

Literally every single one of their fans said that we totally outplayed them of the park in the match thread and that we should have been out of sight. They also said that we are the best side in the division, so they are saying just what Paul Buckle said.

Also GJ is a horrible fat dwarf c*nt himself so I guess it takes one to know one =D

To be fair though GJ did have some nice things to say about us pre match "It's a good club, Bristol Rovers; it has the potential to be a massive club. "Great support - their fans are passionate. If you are an opposing manager they remind you every two seconds that you aren't one of them."

Maybe he is keeping his options open for when, or if Buckle departs :~D

I do love the banter Frank Lampard gets :~D Where did this myth start? and people start calling him fat Frank? He is the most ultra fit professional football player around.

Lee Mansell needs to score 20+ goals a season, 7 years on the trot to be compared to Super Frank :~D

We saw Akinfatwa last night, and boy is he a porker, his big old rump even scored for him =D and Rene Howe is a bit on the rotund side too.

Another good result for you guys last night, I have a feeling that the top 7 already could well be the top 7 come the end of the season.

Anyway sorry for rambling on a bit and changing the subject slightly.

I hear you have Crawley Saturday, I think that will be a game to see where you actually are as a team, as I hate to say it but they already look pretty decent, and Steve Evans looks like his games are starting to intimidate referees again.
